Dembele and Aguero return to Barca training

Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele and Sergio Aguero have resumed training as they continue to recover from injuries.

Since coming at Camp Nou in the summer after his Manchester City contract expired, Aguero has yet to make an appearance for his new team, because he hurt his hamstring during a pre-season workout in August and has been forced to sit out the start of the season.

Dembele has also not participated in this campaign and after being injured while representing France at Euro 2020, the forward had knee surgery in the summer. That setback was emblematic of his Barcelona career, which has been disappointing since his big-money transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

Despite the fact that many of the best players were away on international duty, both players returned to training on Monday.

Barça were ready for their return to La Liga action on Sunday, when they faced Valencia. Although Aguero and Dembele's comeback will come too soon for them, it will be a significant boost for under-fire head coach Ronald Koeman.

His team has had a poor start to the season, winning only three of their first seven La Liga games and suffering back-to-back 3-0 losses in the Champions League.

One of their problems has been poor finishing, with Luuk de Jong scoring just once in his first six games after arriving on deadline day. Philippe Coutinho and Memphis Depay have also struggled to find their feet, while Ansu Fati has only recently returned to the team after a lengthy hiatus.

The departures of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann in the summer had already hampered Koeman's offense before the season began, and Martin Braithwaite's injury in September has only exacerbated the situation.

Barça will be hoping that Sergio Aguero, Man City's all-time leading goalscorer, and Ousmane Dembele, can help them improve their goal-scoring fortunes.
