A former Chelsea coach has said Jose Mourinho simply did not see eye to eye with Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne at Chelsea.
Salah and De Bruyne each had very unsuccessful stints at Stamford Bridge before both went out to AS Roma and Werder Bremen on loan respectively.
The duo would later return to England on permanent deals at Liverpool and Manchester City respectively to become some of the best-ever players in the English Premier League.
Looking back at the duo's time at Chelsea, a former loan technical coach Eddie Newton believes it was Mourihno’s personal issue with the duo that became a problem.
"For me, I think Salah and De Bruyne wasn't about talent," Newton said, as per KingFut.
"It was a personality clash [with Jose Mourinho]. I just didn't think it was working at the time.
"I think they were more than good enough, but it was the manager who didn't see eye to eye with them, so it wasn't going to work,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Mourinho’s AS Roma will take on the mighty Juventus in Serie A this weekend.
