Players to have played for both Barcelona and Liverpool

Football lovers without a doubt will remember Philippe Coutinho as a player to have played for both Barcelona and Liverpool. 

We have many more players who have featured for both teams and we've eight more players to have played for Barcelona and Liverpool, one of the most famous clubs in the world. 

Philippe Coutinho

Coutinho signed for Liverpool from Inter Milan in 2013 for a reported fee of £8.5million. The Brazilian became a key player for the Reds under both Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp before he left Anfield for Barcelona in January 2018 for a fee of around £142million. 

Luis Suarez 

We all know this guy, Luis Suarez, is one of the best forwards Liverpool have ever had. Currently playing for Atletico Madrid, he signed for Liverpool from Ajax in 2011 and later left for Barcelona in 2014. 

Javier Mascherano

Mascherano moved to Liverpool from West Ham United in January 2007. He established a partnership with Xabi Alonso. In 2009, the Reds finished seventh on the log and he was agitated, expressing his desire to leave and was sold to Barcelona in 2010. 

Pepe Reina

Did Pepe Reina play for Barcelona? Yes, he did play for Catalans between 2000 and 2002, making 49 appearances. The 39-year-old was sold to Villarreal where he spent three seasons before he moved to Liverpool in 2005 after building his reputation. 

Reina left for Bayern Munich in 2014 after playing 396 games for the club.

Bolo Zenden

Zenden was part of the great Nethelrnad team around the millennium. He joined Barcelona in 1998, under Louis van Gaal but left after three years, joining Chelsea. He then headed to Middlesbrough before signing for Liverpool where he help the Res win the FA Cup as well as reaching the 2007 Champions League final. 

Mauricio Pellegrino

Pellegrino was another player brought to Barca by van Gaal in 1998. He had a brief spell at Barcelona and left for Valencia. He later joined Liverpool in January 2005 under old manager Rafa Benitez. 

He was the first Argentinan player to represent Liverpool but was released after only six months.

Luis Garcia

Garcia came through the ranks at Barcelona and later moved to Liverpool in 2004 and became fan's favorite at Anfield. 

A gifted player, the diminutive Spaniard scored some truly unforgettable goals in a red shirt and gave us some brilliant moments.

He made his debut in August 2004 and ended up making 121 appearances where he netted 30 goals.

Jari Litmanen

Our last player on the list to feature for both Liverpool and Barcelona is Jari Litmanen. He was one of the excellent and most promising players but his career mixed with injuries made him not achieve dreams of becoming a star. 

He moved to Barcelona in 2008 from Ajax following an impressive stay in the Netherlands. He later moved to Liverpool in 2011 but he failed to replicate his Ajax form in either Camp Nou or Anfield.
