Pep Guardiola sends Xavi a message

Former FC Barcelona and current Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has passed on a message to Xavi Hernandez.

Pep’s message followed soon after Xavi, his ex-player, was unveiled as Ronald Koeman’s successor at the Catalan giants.

Pep said Xavi is in fact not his heir. The 41-year-old Xavi has been appointed on what he can deliver as an individual with unique abilities that differ from Pep or any other coach.

"I wasn't the heir to anybody and Xavi doesn't have to be my heir," said Guardiola via Marca.

"If Joan Laporta and the board have chosen Xavi, then it's because there are millions of pros and few cons.

"He knows the club and will bring positive energy, given how he enjoys football and because of his dedication.

“He always sees the positive side of things,” he added.

"With his class, dedication and effort, I'm sure he'll improve the club's situation,” the English Premier League champion concluded.

Meanwhile, Xavi is now preparing his side for the La Liga visit of Espanyol this weekend.
