Newcastle United targeting Burnley striker Wood

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is targeting Burnley FC striker Chris Wood as a replacement for the injured Callum Wison.

Wilson is expected to be out for two months and with the Magpies in the relegation dogfight, they want a player who can fill that role as they approach the business end of the season.

The Telegraph reports that Newcastle has approached Burnley to discuss terms for Wood however the Sean Dyche side are said to be relaxed about losing a player to a direct relegation rival.

The reports claim that Wood does want the move, as it would mean more money and the chance to play for a more prestigious club.

Newcastle are placed second from the bottom in the Premier League table with 11 points just as Burnley who has played two games less.
