Betting 101: Popular Football Markets Explained

With so many football markets available, betting can be complicated even for the most experienced punters out there.  We're here to explain the most popular markets and why they're so popular and they get people so excited!

What types of bets can I place with betPawa?

There are so many types of betting markets available in the beautiful game because of its massive global popularity. We're here to explain the main ones so that you can select the best ones for you.

Match Result 🥇

The most common betting market in football. Simply select a team to win or a draw.

Correct Score 🎯

Predict the score at the end of 90 minutes. There are many possible outcomes for a match so the odds are quite high and therefore return big wins. Go with correct score, if you know a team's historical record in certain fixtures or their coring habits in previous matches.

Halftime/fulltime double 🎱

AKA double result, this is a bet on predicting the result at both halftime and fulltime in the same event. This is a useful bet if you know that a certain side tends to concede a lot of late goals or if a certain team keeps things tight and defensive for the first half, we're looking at you José Mourinho.

Draw no bet ⌚

This is like the match result bet, except that the draw isn't an option. Here you can bet on a certain team to win and then get your stake back if the match ends in a draw. This bet is safer and the result is that the odds on either side winning are reduced.

Double chance ⌚

A double chance bet allows you to cover two of the three possible outcomes in a football match with the same bet. Punters can either take the home team and draw, away team and draw or home team and away team. Like ‘Draw No Bet’ the odds are slightly shorter, but the extra option can help you cover your bases and have a higher chance of winning.

Total goals (over/under)💯

Over/under is an extremely popular bet because it only includes two options: a total amount of goals that are either over or under a certain amount. This is popular because it pays to know the styles and scoring habits of different teams, as well as the circumstances of the match. If you're expecting it to be tight and defensive, go with a low-scoring under bet.

First goalscorer ⚡

Bet on a player to score the first goal in a match. It helps to know if certain players have a good record in certain fixtures, and which players take penalties and other set pieces like free kicks. The odds are relatively high with this type of bet - so there's money to be made.

Anytime goalscorer ✨

Similar to the last bet, but this requires you to predict that a certain player will score anytime during the match. This drops the price and possible returns, but still a very profitable market. Make sure to do your research on players with good scoring records in certain fixtures, or players on a hot scoring streak. Remember Jamie Vardy scoring in 11 games in a row when Leicester won the Premier League? 🤔

As you can see, there are numerous types of bets available when it comes to football, ranging from highly risky to sensible and safe. Check them all out on betPawa and see which one suits you best.
