  • Absa Premiership Futaa preview
  • Orlando Pirates vs Baroka FC
  • 22 January 2019
  • Orlando Stadium, Johannesburg.

Pirates are in for a character test tonight as they face a side that hurt them last month. Baroka stunned the Sea Robbers to lift the Telkom Knockout trophy on penalty shootouts, adding extra spice into tonight’s Absa Premiership clash.

What’s happened since then?

The Buccaneers will be happy to note that the team has gone on a seven-game unbeaten run since the Telkom sorrow. On the opposite side, Bakgaga have endured what can be described as a possible hangover after winning just one game in the last five outings.

New faces

This period being a transfer window, both sides have recruited a player each. Pirates adding the much-physical central defender Bulelani Ndengane from Bloemfontein Celtic who’s already made three starting appearances, while Baroka have roped in the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League’s Player of the Year & top goal-scorer Rodwell Chinyengetere.

Win incentives

A win for the Sea Robbers will place them at the top of the table with a two-point cushion, while Bakgaga will jump up from position 14 to 12.
