Lobi Stars coach Solomon Ogbeide and Mamelodi Sundowns' coach Pitso Mosimane met twice in the Group A of the CAF Champions League, and the two men have not made the best of friends.
Lobi first welcomed Sundowns to Nigeria earlier in the year where they won 2-1 in Enugu, before getting a 3-0 beating in South Africa last Saturday.
The Nigerian coach has now confirmed that an incident in Nigeria left his South African counterpart not particularly friendly towards him in Pretoria last weekend.
“In Nigeria, there was an argument when Sundowns wanted to train early on an artificial pitch‚” Ogbeide explained to Nigerian media yesterday.
"‘I asked my boys to leave the field and called Sundowns to train but they refused. I refused to shake his hands in the first match in Nigeria but it is in the past,” said Ogbeide.
“After the match here I tried to shake his hand but he refused and I said ‘OK‚ I am not your wife’."
Mosimane also added his own comment on the conflict, saying:
“It is about the national agenda and the flag‚ you remember the story of who is better between SA and Nigeria‚” Mosimane said.
Meanwhile, the result qualified the South African side for the CACL quarter final, though there's still a game to spare against Wydad Casablanca next weekend away.
