Transfer Gossip: Eric Bailly linked with Real Madrid as Man City chase Rodri

Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has emerged a shock transfer target for Real Madrid as they seek to rebuild their squad ahead of next season while Manchester City are looking to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri.

Bailly has endured a difficult season with United as he has suffered injury setbacks and handed limited playing time when fit. The Ivorian has made only 13 starts across all competitions and remains a doubt for the club's Champions League quarter-final clash with Barcelona. According to The Sun, Zinedine Zidane is a big fan of the defender and is looking to bring him to Real Madrid despite being unsuccessful at United.

According to the Dail Mail, Manchester City have added Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri to their list of potential targets for the summer.  The midfielder only joined the club from Villarreal last summer, but it is thought that Atletico will not allow Rodri to leave for any less than his £59.8m buy-out clause. Pep Guardiola is looking for an heir to Fernandinho who is approaching the twilight stages of his career.

Manchester United have held discussions with Ajax center-back Matthijs de Ligt, transfer expert Guillem Balague claims. While speaking to Football Index, Balague revealed that United have had talks with de Ligt, “A good place to start would be with a top-class centre-back. Matthijs De Ligt has had conversations with the club, although he looks to be favoring a move to Barcelona. Ajax have already made it clear that they will not be auctioning the player but rather let him go where he would prefer to play."

Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement with Adrien Rabiot that will see the French midfielder join the La Liga side when his Paris-Saint Germain contract expires in the summer, according to Canal+. Rabiot was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in the January transfer window but the deal failed to materialize.
