The Watford skipper slotted a stoppage-time penalty to take the FA Cup semifinal against Wolves to extra time, and the rest is history.

Wolves led the 2-0 after goals either side of half-time from wing-back Matt Doherty and Mexican star Raul Jimenez gave Nuno Espirito Santo's side a convincing lead and they appeared to be in total control of the contest. Jimenez, whose £30m move from Benfica was confirmed in the week preceding the match, celebrated flamboyantly by putting on a wrestling mask placed behind the goal that was sent to him by his friend, WWE superstar Sin Cara.

Talented Spaniard Gerard Deulofeu pulled one back with ten minutes left on the clock audaciously flicking a chipped effort that left goalkeeper John Ruddy stranded as he could only watch it nestle in the top corner and the comeback was on the cards.

Watford was then given a controversial, contentious penalty deep into stoppage time and Deeney lashed it into the back of the net with confidence and the match entered extra time. Deulofeu wrote himself into Watford folklore by scoring the winner in the 104th minute to settle a pulsating FA Cup classic.

Deeney was understandably emotional after the final whistle:

Deeney & Watford welcome Arsenal to Vicarage Road next in the Premier League and, given the Gunners' troubles on the road, The Hornets will be confident that they can sting Arsenal's top four chances and boost their own top-seven credentials.

Manchester City & Watford will contest the FA Cup final on May 18th.
