Eric Bailly issues an injury update after fears of missing AFCON

After suffering a season-ending injury in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea over the weekend, Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has provided an injury update, pledging to come back stronger next season.

According to various sources, Ivory Coast have suffered a major blow ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations, with  Eric Bailly set to miss the tournament. The 25-year-old suffered a knee ligament damage in the Chelsea game after a collision with Mateo Kovacic. Bailly was the first signing under Jose Mourinho's tenure but has made just four Premier League appearances under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In a Tweet, Bailly provided an injury update after being stretched off the Chelsea game, "I would like to thank everyone for the messages of love and support I have received. It's tough, but one must accept that some injuries are unavoidable. It's true that this season hasn't smiled down upon me very much, but I will return soon and with more strength next season, God willing."
