Aubameyang: What winning the Golden Boot means to Africa

Arsenal star Emerick Aubameyang believes sharing the Golden Boot with Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane is a clear indication that Africans are 'succeeding' in the Premier League.

The three Africans shared the title, even though each was presented with their own trophies, after tieing on 22 goals.

The Gabon international scored twice at Burnley on the last day to draw level with Salah and Mane, who also grabbed a double against Wolves at home.

“It means a lot, I am really happy and proud of it,” Aubamayang was quoted by the Guardian.

“I am sharing this trophy with Mane and Salah. I like these two guys. We are representing Africa, so it is a good sign for the continent. I am really proud and I have to thank my teammates for helping me to get it," he added.

Aubameyang will lead his Arsenal side when they take on Chelsea in the Europa League final on May 29th in Baku.

Mane and Salah will also lead Liverpool against Tottenham in the finals of the Champions League, before joining their teammates for the Africa Cup of Nations preparations.

The tournament will take place between June 21-July 19th in Egypt.
