Manchester City claimed a historic domestic treble after beating Watford 6-0 at Wembley on Saturday 18th in FA Cup final.

Raheem Sterling grabbed a hat trick while Gabriel Jesus was on the brace with Kevin de Bryune and David Silva getting a goal each to hand Pep Guardiola his first ever FA Cup title.

The Citizens had already won the Premier League and Carabao Cup, and now they’ve added FA Cup in their cabinet, becoming the first men’s team to win English domestic treble.

Penalty appeal

There was a penalty appeal for Watford as Doucoure’s shot was blocked by Kompany. The ball did strike Kompany’s arm, but the referee Kevin Friend didn't give a penalty as VAR was in agreement with him and he ended up booking Deucoure for protests.

Silva goal

Despite Watford’s threat in the opening minutes of the game, it was City who took the lead through David Silva. Sterling won a header on the edge of the box, aiming towards Silva who took a shot away from Femenia and into the far corner.

Jesus goal

City extended their lead to two and this time it was Raheem Sterling in the scoresheet. Bernardo Silva curled a sublime pass to the back post for Jesus, who got between Gomes and Femenia and flicked the ball goalwards. It went bouncing into the goal but Sterling cheekily whacked it into the empty net right on the line, and the England international claimed the goal.

De Bryune goal

Kevin de Bryune came from the bench to net the third for City which proved to be game over. Watford were caught on the break as Pereyra lost out in an aerial battle with Jesus. The Brazilian broke forward and played inside for De Bryune, who checked past Gomes and then finished from close range with only one defender on the line.

Jesus brace

Gabriel got his second, a similar goal to the third as City broke from a Watford attack. De Bryune played through Jesus, who was clear and coolly finished past Gomes.

Sterling brace

Bernardo Silva decided to step up the pace as he drove forward, skipped into the box with a step-over and then fizzed the ball to the back post where Sterling was free to finish past Gomes.

Sterling hatrick

It' was a hat-trick for Sterling as City equaled the biggest-ever FA Cup final win. Gomes made a brilliant save to keep out Sterling's initial shot, tipping it onto the post. However, Sterling was quickest to react to the rebound and tapped into the net from close range.

City becomes the first team to score five-plus foals in an FA Cup final at Wembley. Only two teams have scored more goals in an FA Cup final.

  • Bury 6-0 Derby, in 1903 at Crystal Palace
  • Blackburn 6-1 The Wednesday, in 1890 at Kennington.
