Former Chelsea forward Shaun Wright-Phillips believes Frank Lampard should turn down the opportunity to take over at Stamford Bridge if he is offered the chance to replace Maurizio Sarri.
Sarri has been linked with a return to Italy and the Derby County boss is regarded as one of the frontrunners to succeed him in the dugout.
However, Wright-Phillips, who played with Lampard at the club, wants him to "wait a little bit longer" and develop as a manager before considering such a move.
“He may as well continue progressing as a coach and then when he goes there he goes there for good,” Wright-Phillips told 888sport, said.
“That’s what I would like to see him do but if he feels ready for it – and only he knows – he should jump at it.
“Chelsea is not an easy job to step into and there is no point him stepping in and getting the sack within two years,” he added.
“If I was in Frank’s shoes I would wait a little bit longer.”
As per the Express, Derby County have already lined up a replacement for Lampard if he decides to leave this summer.
