Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri is edging closer to Manchester City move after the two clubs agreed on the player’s release clause.
As reported by Sky Sports, the England Champions have agreed to pay Rodri’s release clause with the midfielder in contract talks with the club. The 22-year-old has been Pep Guardiola’s number one target to cover the holding midfield role at the Etihad, the priority position to fill after missing out to Chelsea for Jorginho last season.
Diego Simeone wanted to keep the former Villarreal man who made 34 appearances for the club and cost Atletico £17m last year but his release clause, around £61m, has allowed the player to force the move to the Premier League.
