Gor Mahia appoints new assistant coach

Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia have appointed immediate former Sony Sugar head coach Patrick Odhiambo as their new assistant coach.

As confirmed by the club on their website, Odhiambo joins the club on a two-year deal to replace Zedekiah Otieno who left the club to join KCB FC.

Club chairman Ambrose Rachier said Odhiambo was one of the coaches who they were looking for to fill the role left by Zedekiah and were impressed by the work he did with Sony.

“We are very happy that he agreed to join us at Gor Mahia and hope to reach greater heights together. He is a qualified and capable coach and we were impressed by the work he has done elsewhere so among the many coaches who were interested in the job we settled on him,” said Rachier

The appointment comes on a day that the club confirmed the return of head coach Hassan Oktay from vacation with the club now gearing to participate in the CECEFA Kagame Cup.

Apart from Sony Sugar, Odhiambo has worked in the sugar belt for the better part of his career after handling Chemelil Sugar, Agrochemicals and Muhoroni Youth.
