2012 African Champions, Zambia have been placed in Pot 2 ahead of the draw for the 2021 Cameroon Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers slated for 18th July in Cairo, Egypt.
Zambia has been placed alongside neighbours South Africa, Guinea, Congo Brazzaville, Niger and Cape Verde. Zambia cannot meet any of the teams in Pot 2.
The Copper Bullets, however, expect a tricky qualification route as they will face one of the seeded sides which include Senegal, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Algeria and Nigeria. Other teams may face ate tricky pot 3 sides like Zimbabwe, Guinea Bissau and Namibia.
Pot 5 has eight teams who will be drawn into four pairings and the winners of the two-legged ties advance to the second stage as part of pot 4.
There will then be 12 groups comprised of one team from pots 1-4. The winners and runners-up will qualify for the AFCON finals. Hosts Cameroon is guaranteed a place so only one other team qualify from their group. Eritrea and Somalia did not enter.

Pot 4: Burundi, Rwanda, Equatorial Guinea, eSwatini (formerly Swaziland), Lesotho, Botswana, Comoros, Ethiopia and four preliminary-round winners
Pot 5: Liberia, Mauritius, Gambia, South Sudan, Chad, Sao Tome e Principe, Seychelles, Djibouti
