Match preview & key OPTA stats 📰 🧮

Mali went unbeaten in the groups, perhaps defying expectation in the process, and they'll be confident that they can do damage to Ivory Coast with Porto striker Moussa Marega in their ranks. Mali scored six goals in the groups and certainly have the firepower to trouble Ivory Coast, who themselves have a lethal attacking unit. Bet on goals here.

  • Mali won two matches in securing qualification from Group D, twice the number of victories they recorded in their 11 previous Africa Cup of Nations games.
  • Ivory Coast has beaten Mali in three of their four previous Africa Cup of Nations encounters, drawing the other.
  • Mali midfielder Diadie Samassekou finished the group stage with more interceptions (10) than any other player.
  • Magassouba's men are the only team to boast a greater number of individual goalscorers (six) at the tournament than Ivory Coast's five.

Players to watch 💫

Southampton's new Malian signing Moussa Djenepo. Raph Hasenhuttl regards the young winger as "an exciting player with tremendous pace and good finishing abilities," and he's showcased some of those here.

Ivory Coast's experienced attacking midfielder Max Gradel could be the man for the big occasion for the Elephants. The 31-year-old notched double figures for goals in Ligue 1 last term and scored a beautiful goal on the run against Namibia. He's a key creative force for Ivory Coast alongside Franck Kessie.
