Super Eagles goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi may have yet to recover from Riyad Mahrez's powerful freekick that went straight into his net.
That goal, conceded in the 90th minute, shot Algeria to the final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-1 victory over the Super Eagles.
Akpeyi admitted it was a disappointing experience, but added that the team has a bright future.
"It’s very tough for us to take. The way we lost the game against Algeria was disappointing. It’s sad to concede from a free-kick late in the game. Now, we have to look up to the third-place game,” Akpeyi who plays for South African side, Chippa United stated after the game.
“We don’t want to think about what people are saying about our performance. We really gave it our best shot. We started this competition among 24 teams and a lot of teams are back home in their countries.
“This team is still young and have a good chance to do well in future. I know in future things will get better.”
The Super Eagles will take on the Carthage Eagles of Algeria in the Third-place match on Wednesday at the Al Salam Stadium, Cairo.
