Wits release six players, Gavin Hunt explains

Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt has confirmed and explained why the Absa Premiership club has released six players.

The Wits exodus includes Darren Keet, Denis Weidlich, Vuyo Mere, Edwin Gyimah, Bantu Mzwakali, and Daylon Claasen.

In addition to financial limitations, Hunt used 'various reseasons' to describe the club latest turnover.

“A lot of players have left – some because of contracts running out and some for various reasons,” Hunt told Soccer Laduma.

“A lot of it was budget constraints as well. It means we now have a smaller, but tighter squad. But it’s not like our squad was big, but yes a lot of players have left,” he concluded.

Wits begin the 2019/20 season away at AmaZulu on Saturday 3 August.
