Arsenal and Nigeria star Alex Iwobi has not denied the pain of losing at AFCON 2019’s semi-finals.
The 23-year-old could not help the Super Eagles as they fell to Algeria in a 2-1 loss last Sunday in the semi’s - thanks to a Riyad Mahrez wonder free-kick in injury time.
“We always take lessons from our mistakes,” Iwobi told the CAF press conference.
“Even though we lost the semi-final, of course, it hurts, there is no better place to put it right than in the third-fourth place play-off match.
With the West Africans facing Tunisia this evening to battle for the bronze medal, Iwobi has promised to take the game seriously.
“We are a young team and hope to return home with the third place. We will enter the game with the needed respect and seriousness,” concluded the Lagos-born footballer.
