Danson Chetambe wins SJAK May/June footballer of the month award

Bandari FC new signing Danson Chetambe is the LG/Sports Journalist Association of Kenya (SJAK) May/June footballer of the month.

Chetambe beat a host of other Premier League players to win the award, after a good performance as the league came to a close.

Zoo avoided relegation by the thinnest of margins, after garnering 15 points out of a possible 27 in the two months to retain their Premier League status.

Chetambe was in red-hot form during the period, and his five goals were crucial in propelling the side to memorable victories.

“I am so pleased to win this award. It was a tough month because we were fighting relegation, I am honored that my effort has been recognized today though not with Zoo but now at Bandari,” Chetambe said after receiving the award on Monday after the team’s morning session at the Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa.

“I hope to carry on the good performance with Bandari and help the team win titles this season. It is going to be a tough season since we have the CAF Confederation Cup, the league, Super Cup and also defending the Shield. So far I enjoy my stay in Bandari and I promise our fans good results.” he added.

The midfielder moved to the Mombasa-based side and is expected to carry on with his scintillating form in the local league as well as the CAF Confederation tournament.
