Former CAPS United striker Nyasha Mushekwi has given back to the club with a brand new luxurious team bus.
According to The Herald, the China-based star has dug into his own pocket to produce US$120 000 on what is a 45-seater passenger for CAPS, a club that helped launch his career.
‘It’s still on the production line, but almost done,’’ he told The Herald.
‘‘But, I can send you some pictures of what it looks like even though there will be some changes according to the specifications that we want.”
‘‘Remember, this is a team bus for a professional football club and it should be fitted with things that will make the boys feel comfortable on their trips when they are going for their assignments.”
Mushekwi admitted that he had hoped to keep the entire plan under wraps until all is done, but is nevertheless not too bothered by the premature revelation.
‘‘I didn’t want this story to come out before everything had been sorted, but things took a turn in the past few days because the issue reached the Ministry and then there were some letters and it’s now in the open.’’
‘‘I asked them to make it white outside, to match the team colours, then we are going to brand it with the green colour too, it cost me about US$120 000.”
‘‘It’s God’s work, CAPS United put me on the map, I’m thankful to God for this opportunity and I know the situation back home and it’s like, as and when, I can help, I should be able to do so. God is always doing amazing things, we give praise to Him.”
‘‘I love my team, they are my team and they gave me an opportunity to be who I am and I can never forget what they did to me and the new generation of players must also be inspired that, if they work hard, they can go places and, maybe, one day, they can also give back to the team,” added the 31-year-old Mushekwi.
