Alex Iwobi reveals reasons for joining Everton from Arsenal

Alex Iwobi completed a transfer deadline day move from Arsenal to Everton and has since admitted that he made the switch to 'make a name for himself in the Premier League'.

Iwobi joined Everton on a five-year deal worth £35million after returning from the African Cup of Nations where he represented his nation, Nigeria. Iwobi joined Arsenal in 2004 at the age of eight and made his debut while still a teenager in 2015. His first Premier League start in March 2016, came against Everton in a match he actually scored.

In an interview with Everton TV, Iwobi revealed why he ditched Arsenal for Everton, "The offer was too attractive for me to turn down. The manager was telling me: ‘There is a spot for you, we will take care of you’. Basically, all the things you want to hear as a player.

"He has given me the confidence I will do well. I am ready for a new challenge and chapter in my life. I always had that youngster tag at Arsenal, so hopefully, with this move, I am able to make a name for myself in the Premier League and create history with Everton .

"Hopefully I will be able to take on a bit more responsibility and add something to the team as well. The manager has worked with Richarlison for a long while and made a name for him. Hopefully, he can do the same for, not just me, but Moise Kean and a few others that came as well."
