Real Madrid started their 2019/20 La Liga campaign on a positive note after thrashing Celta Vigo 3-1 on Saturday 17th.
Karim Benzema put the visitors ahead early in the game before Luka Modric was sent off in the second half a poor challenge on Suarez. Toni Kroos scored a stunner to double Madrid's lead with Vasquez netting the third with ten minutes remaining. Iker Losada scored the consolation goal for the hosts in the stoppage time, denying Thibaut Courtois a clean sheet to end the match with a 3-1 scoreline.
Madrid took the lead in the 12th minute as Bale drove down the left before delivering a low cross into Benzema. The Frenchman poked the ball home from close range to put the Los Blancos in complete control of the match.
Celta were level minutes later as a mistake from Odriozola presented Aspas with the ball and the forward slid a pass into Mendez, who found the bottom of the net. That was awful defending from Madrid but the goal did not count as VAR called for offside.
Madrid were reduced to ten men as Luka Modric saw a red card in the 56th minute after chopping down Suarez. After the foul, the referee had to check the screen for replays and had to give a straight red card to the midfielder.
Kroos double the lead for Zinedine Zidane’s men with a stunner. The Germany international worked a little bit of space outside the box before finding the back of the net via the crossbar, an absolute stunner of a long-range goal from the midfielder.
Madrid grabbed their third goal in the 80th minute as fine passing move ended with Benzema feeding Lucas, who found the back of the net with a calm finish. Poor defending from Celta.
Celta finally gave their fans something to cheer in the final moments of the match as Iker Losada found the bottom corner with a brilliant finish from a wide-angle.
Next up for Madrid is a home game with Real Valladolid next weekend, while Celta will attempt to return to put their first points on the board when they host Valencia.
