Clashes between Liverpool and Arsenal usually produced a flurry of goals and memorable moments and we are expecting no different this Saturday.
Which four past meetings between the sides do we remember most vividly?
Liverpool 4-4 Arsenal
From Russia with love 🇷🇺
Four goals from Russian playmaker Andrey Arshavin summed up one of the most topsy-turvy Premier League matches in history. Arshavin had Arsenal ahead with a smart and incisive finish off the crossbar from a Cesc Fabregas assist just before the break. Liverpool equalized and then took a lead of their own only for Arshavin to spear Arsenal back into the game with a fierce drive. He completed his hat-trick to make it 3-2 after a slack clearance by a Liverpool defender. Arsenal allowed Liverpool back into the game but thought they had the match won when Theo Walcott burst away on the counter to feed Arshavin, who scored his fourth with an unerring left-footed drive. Yossi Benayoun's bundled equalizer finished off one of the most dramatic matches England has ever seen.
It was a result that didn't suit either side; Arsenal should have won but Liverpool's late equalizer wasn't enough to keep their own fading title ambitions alive.
Arsenal 1-1 Liverpool
102nd-minute equalizer breaks Arsenal hearts 😮
Anything can and usually does happen in clashes between these clubs, and you'll struggle to find any match in any era that contained two goals beyond the 98th minute of regulation time.
Robin van Persie thought he had won it for Arsenal with his penalty eight minutes after the 90, only for Liverpool to peg them back after a penalty in the 102nd minute, slotted by Dirk Kuyt after Lucas Leiva was fouled by Emmanuel Eboue in the area.
Liverpool 3-3 Arsenal
Arsenal surrender points in the snow ❄️
The Gunners had their advantage at the top of the Premier League cut after Joe Allen's late equaliser in almost blizzard-like conditions ended up costing them dear.
Liverpool led twice in the first half, only to be pegged back by Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud, and the Frenchman put Arsenal in front with a stunning piece of individual skill and curled effort but Allen's equalizer was sickening for Arsenal fans and players alike.
Arsenal 3-3 Liverpool
Christmas cracker ends all square
Liverpool took a two-goal lead through Philippe Coutinho and Mo Salah, only for Arsenal to mount a fightback through a close-range header from Alexis Sanchez and a long-range thunderbolt from Granit Xhaka. The unpredictable Mesut Ozil cheekily chipped Arsenal into the lead only for Roberto Firmino to equalize on a frantic, crazy, cold night in London.
The latest instalment in this dramatic rivalry will play out this Saturday. Are you ready?
