Francis Kimanzi outlines his target after appointment as new Harambee Stars coach

New Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi has set his eyes guiding the Harambee Stars to the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in 2021.

The coach was officially unveiled on Tuesday, taking over from Frenchman Sebastien Migne, who left the post after an agreement with the Football Kenya Federation.

Speaking after his unveiling, the former Mathare United coach, who was Migne's assistant during his reign said he has learnt a lot and will continue from where his predecessor left.

“We laid a good foundation with our former coach, qualifying for AFCON. This is a continuation of the good job we did and we are looking forward to accomplishing our biggest challenge of getting the team back to AFCON 2021,” said Kimanzi.

Migne guided the Stars to their first-ever AFCON finals in 15 years but impressed despite being tossed out in the group stages.

This will be the third time he manages the national team and will be deputised by the current KCB FC manager Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno.

The new-look Harambee Stars team is expected to lead the team in the next two years and should be in charge of Stars World Cup and AFCON Qualifiers.
