Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will not be lined up by Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash against Newcastle United at St James Park.
Rodgers had confirmed that Ndidi tweaked his hamstring in the Foxes 1-1 draw at Chelsea.
The Nigeria international is only expected to return to training on Wednesday, and may not be fit for a competitive encounter on same day.
Ndidi’s absence in Leicester's 2-1 victory over Sheffield United on Saturday, was his first in a Premier League game since the 5-4 defeat to Spurs in the final match of the 2017-18 campaign.
He is expected to return to fitness for the weekend’s EPL game against Bournemouth.
