Kenyan Premier League newbies Wazito FC will open their 2019/20 campaign without the services of midfielder Teddy Osok and goalkeeper Steven Njuge when they take on Nzoia Sugar on Saturday 31 August.
According to the team physio Noel Mandi on their website, Osok has a back problem with Njunge having a strain; both ruled out for one week.
“Teddy has a back problem. He suffered a slight knock and he will be out for around one week. Njunge has a quadriceps strain and he is also out for a week. After that, I think they will be available for selection, “Mandi told the club website.
Apart from the duo, Eric ‘Ero’ Odhiambo, Dennis Gicheru, and Zachary Gathu are all long-term absentees after undergoing surgery with the trio all on rehabilitation.
Another New signing
The news comes a time when the club confirmed the acquisition of Ugandan Mathew Tayo Odongo from Ugandan Premier League side, Uganda Revenue Authority FC.
Tayo returns to the Kenyan Premier League after turning out for Tusker FC and Kariobangi Sharks in previously.
He has been part of the team during pre-season and scored our goal in the one-all draw against KCB at Gems Cambridge International Schools a week ago.
