Bandari see off Sony as Homeboyz thump Sharks to go top

Bandari recorded a second consecutive win in the Kenya Premier League, after beating Sony Sugar 1-0 away at the Awendo Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The kickoff was delayed for a few minutes, as they waited for security to be beefed up with both sides enjoying a good number of supporters.

Darius Msagha's 10th-minute goal was the difference between the two sides, which saw Bandari move up to second on the log.

It was, however, the hosts who were on the attack early on, with Felly Mulumba called into action to head a ball from the wing clear on the fifth minute.

Bandari hit back with an attack five minutes later and found the back of the net through Msagha.

Sony almost pulled level five minutes later, but Bonny's long-range shot was deflected out for a throw by Mulumba, who threw his body on the line.

Bandari kept knocking on Sony's door and came back on the 26th minute, playing beautiful football but Yema's shot was saved by the keeper after good teamwork.

There was little from that minute onwards, as Msagha's goal separated the two sides going into the break.

The hosts came back for the second half a totally changed side and were on the attack for long spells as they searched for an equalizer.

Ndikumana, however, stood firm in goal, time and again repelling their attacks as the match ended 1-0 in favour of the visitors.

In other matches played on Sunday;

Sofapaka registered their first win of the season by seeing off bottom-placed Chemelil Sugar 4-0 at the Narok Stadium.

The win saw them move to sixth on the log on four points, resulting from a win, draw and a loss.

At Bukhungu, Kakamega Homeboyz gave Kariobangi Sharks a footballing lesson, thumping them 3-0 in an encouraging performance.

The win sent Homeboyz to top of the Kenya Premier League albeit temporarily, having won twice, and drawn once.
