Despite grappling with financial crisis, Gor Mahia skipper Kenneth Muguna insists that the situation has not affected the player's mood at the club.
Gor have been forced to appeal for funds from fans after launching a paybill number in a bid to ease their financial burden. Their main sponsors, SportPesa pulled out from sponsoring sports in the country after the government enacted the new tax laws and are yet to make official a new deal despite rumors of negotiations.
In an interview with the club's official portal, Muguna assured fans that their financial situation has not affected the players, "Everyone is positive. The mood has been okay despite the financial challenges. The training sessions have been productive.
"The team is hungry for the CL group stages. We want to improve on our CAF CC performance of last season. Our fans should fill the stadium. It will be awesome if there isn’t even one empty seat. We need their support."
Finances have been Gor Mahia's major undoing in the continental stage with elimination in the quarter-finals against RS Berkane and a loss to Rayon Sports majorly coming due to money issues.
