U23 AFCON: Ghana coach talks tough after draw

Coach of Ghana's Black Meteors Ibrahim Tanko has reacted after the AFCON U23 draw conducted on Wednesday.

Ghana is drawn alongside hosts Egypts as well as Cameroon and Mali in Group A.

The former Ghanaian international midfielder Tanko led the team to shock bookmakers by defeating Algeria away after both teams drew 1-1 in Ghana in the final qualifying round.

Tanko believes the draw is rather impressive, and not tough as most people are saying.

“Everyone is saying it is tough, but I think it is impressive.
"This simply means that you have to prepare very hard, play each match like the final and take your chances.

“Any team having illusions of recovering after a false start will be sorely disappointed. I think we are going to have tough, spectacular games all the way in the tournament.”

Only the top three teams at the tournament will qualify to represent Africa at the men’s football tournament of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
