AC Milan appoints new head coach

Italian giant’s AC Milan has named Stefano Pioli as their new head coach with immediate effect for; the contact running until June 2021.

The 53-year old joins the team following the sacking of Marco Giampaolo on Tuesday after a poor start to the Serie A season.

In a statement on their website, Milan noted: “AC Milan announces the appointment with immediate effect of Mr Stefano Pioli as the new coach of the First Team.

“Born in October 1965 in Parma, Stefano Pioli began his career as a coach in 1999. His first coaching experience in Serie A was at Parma in 2006.

Coaching stints

"He then went on to coach several other Serie A Clubs: Chievo Verona, Palermo, Bologna, Lazio and Inter Milan, before moving to Fiorentina in 2017. Stefano Pioli now joins AC Milan on a two-year agreement.

“The Club wishes Stefano and his coaching staff all the best in their work.”

Milan is currently placed 13th on the league log with nine points (ten points below leaders Juventus) after registering three wins and zero losses with the club recording no draw in their first seven games.

The team hosts Leece in their next game after the International break.
