Zambia U23 national team head coach Beston Chambeshi has expressed happiness with the way the team is shaping up ahead of next month's U23 AFCON tournament.
Chambeshi was also quick to heap praise on the newcomers who have been roped in to boost his team ahead of the tournament.
"So far so good. We are happy with the way the boys are competing and the way they are working. This week had been about endurance. The players we have brought in have also come in well which is good for the team," he said.
"The goalkeeper Patrick from KYSA and Zackariah Chilongoshi from Kabwe Warriors are the new players and we are happy with the way they have come in."
" We need to prepare very well but so far so good we moving in the right direction," he added.
Chambeshi's team has been scoring goals for fun but has also been shipping in quite a huge number but the gaffer is not worried as he believes the boys are working hard.
" If you look at the performance of the defense it has been a concern but again I can defend them. It's only the game against Congo Brazzaville that we conceded. We have boys who are working hard and can do well as improving every day. We need to work on psyching them so that they can work very hard," he said.
Chambeshi also went on to reveal that the team will play at least two or three friendly games before the tournament.
"FAZ is doing everything possible to make sure we play at least two or three friendly games. Next week you may hear something," he said.
" We are playing South Africa, Nigeria and Ivory Coast so we may play a West African side."
Zambia was drawn in group B alongside defending Champions, Nigeria, 2015 third-placed team South Africa, and Cote d’Ivoire. The tournament will be held between November 8-22 at Cairo International Stadium and Al Salam Stadium.
