COSAFA Men's U-17: Zambia and Mozambique battle for gold

Zambia U-17 national team will be looking to be crowned Champions when they square off with Mozambique in the final of the 2019 COSAFA U17 Championships in Malawi.

The Osward Mutapa tutored side is yet to test defeat this far in the tournament winning all their three group stage games. They humiliated Eswatini and South Africa 6-0 and 7-0 respectively then recorded a hard-fought 3-2 win over the hosts Malawi before dumping out defending Champions, Angola in the semifinals with a 2-0 scoreline.

Mozambique topped group B with seven points before eliminating Group A runners up Eswatini in the semifinals with a 1-0 scoreline.

Zambia captain Miguel Chaiwa says the team is confident of getting a positive result as they have been working hard.

"The morale in camp is high. Since we came here we have been working hard to play in the final. We look forward to the game and we are confident and expecting a positive result, " he said.

Zambia last won the tournament in 2017 before being booted out in the group stage last time out. The two powerhouses of Southern African football will square off at 14:00 hrs at the Mpira Stadium while Eswatini and Angola battle for bronze at 11:00hrs at the same venue.
