El Tráfico certainly lived up to the hype in the early hours of this morning with LAFC edging an eight-goal thriller in the MLS Cup Playoffs.
The major subplot was, of course, the battle for LA supremacy between the two hottest strikers in the USA, Carlos Vela and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Mexican striker Vela's brace guided LAFC to their first-ever win over cross-town rivals Galaxy in the first-ever meeting between the sides in the Audi Cup Playoffs.
Vela had LAFC 2-0 up inside 40 minutes before Cristian Pavon and Zlatan himself hit back to make it 2-2 on the 55-minute mark. The hosts restored their two-goal lead with quickfire goals from Diego Rossi and Adama Diomande. Galaxy reduced the deficit through Rolf Feltscher but Diomande's second made the game safe with ten minutes on the clock and LAFC would celebrate their first-ever win over the Galaxy. Relive the action below:
Carlos Vela broke the single-season goal-scoring record and has been tipped to win the league's MVP Award. Bob Bradley's men broke the MLS record for the most points in a season.
Zlatan ends the season with plenty of goals and assists, but zero trophies.
