France coach Didier Deschamps has included midfielder N'Golo Kante in his squad for the upcoming Euro qualifiers, risking a fresh row with Chelsea manager Frank Lampard over the midfielder's fitness.
Kante has endured a torrid start to the season due to a niggling injury that has restricted him to only six starts the whole campaign but is now fully fit for Chelsea's upcoming fixtures.
He was included in the Champions League squad against Ajax on Tuesday night, even though he did not feature as Lampard decided to rest him with the Crystal Palace match on the horizon.
A row ensued between the two managers during the last international break, with the midfielder withdrawing from the French camp after suffering a knock.
Lampard later voiced his displeasure in how the matter was handled, suggesting the French medical team failed in handling Kante's situation well.
“The Kanté one was not a laughing matter because we communicated before the last international break because he was injured,” Lampard said last month.
“Let’s think what benefits the player. He didn’t go, we both agreed on that. That’s how things should work.
“After the first game when he pulled out, he then had a fitness test the day before the second game; it was clear he couldn’t play,"
"He then sat on the bench on the evening of the game, so that’s not communication… our doctors were speaking and there were times when things weren’t coming back to us when I would expect them to."
Commenting on the issue after naming his squad, Deschamps suggested Chelsea should not complain over his inclusion.
"I haven't spoken to him. NG has taken time to recover, he was back in training last week, in their squad for the Champions League,"
"He is back to full fitness. If a player is available for his club, it is normal that they be part of this squad,"
