Former Newcastle United and Southampton forward Alan Shearer has selected his Premier League starting XI of the season so far.
League leaders Liverpool have dominated the squad as well as second-placed Leicester City with four and three players respectively. Most notably, Shearer has picked James Maddison for his performance in the current campaign having netted four goals already.
Dean Henderson (Sheffield United)
Henderson, who is on loan from Manchester United has had an impressive start to the current campaign, registering five clean sheets so far.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)
Trent picked from where he left last season and has been even better for Liverpool. The England international is so good at making attacking runs and delivering deadly crosses in the box.
John Egan (Sheffield United)
Another Sheffield player in Shearer's squad Egan who has is one of the unsung heroes for the newly-promoted side. He goes about his business effectively and with the minimum of fuss. A real leader at the back.
Caglar Soyuncu (Leicester)
He has been outstanding for Brendan Rodgers men and his importance was during Leicester's 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace earlier in the month.
Andrew Robertson (Liverpool)
Another Liverpool fullback who has started the season brilliantly alongside Trent. He has shown incredible energy driving up and down the left flank and regularly weighs in with an assist.
The Liverpool midfielder has been effective in and out of the possession as he is rarely drawn out of position.
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)
KDB is one of Premier League's pass masters with intelligent when it comes to a wide range of deliveries.
James Maddison (Leicester City)
The midfielder's all-round touch and technique have been outstanding. Last season he was beginning to show his quality but this year he has really blossomed under the guidance of Rodgers.
Sadio Mane (Liverpool)
Mane's performance last season saw him share Golden Boot with teammate Mohamed Salah and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and has so far this campaign netted seven goals.
Tammy Abraham (Chelsea)
Being his first season with Chelsea, Abraham has paid back Frank Lampard's trust by netting 10 goals in 12 appearances for the Blues.
Jamie Vardy (LEI)
Growing old but getting better day by day. The 31-year-old is one of the top clinical finishers and gets in good scoring positions.
Manager: Chris Wilder (SHU)
Wilder has led Sheffield to fifth on the log after sticking to his beliefs. He lets his players express themselves, which they clearly enjoy, and the benefits are there for all to see so far.
