Kaizer Chiefs may look to be running away with the Absa Premiership but Edward Motale says the title is not going to the Naturena trophy cabinet.
Ernst Middendorp's side are currently sitting pretty at the top of the PSL log with 10 points ahead. The success included big wins over the likes of Cape Town City, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. The next five fixtures also look winnable: Stellenbosch, Celtic, Maritzburg, SuperSport and Highlands Park.
Asked to share his thoughts on Chiefs' flying start to the season, Magents gave the club all due props for sticking with the coach after failing to qualify for the MTN8.
“Looks, big ups to Kaizer Chiefs. They came out of the grave where they finished position nine but what I like that is outstanding about Chiefs was the decision to give the coach another life. They should belief in him. Look where he is now. He also got his corrections right," Motale told Soccer Laduma TV.
The legendary right-back then concluded his views by stating Amakhosi will not win the title though.
“I am not saying he is going to win the league. Chiefs is not going to win the league. Sundowns is not going to win the league. And don’t ask me who is going to win it.”
“But they [Chiefs] have done very well for themselves. You see the will to win on the players’ faces. They even say in English: once bitten, twice shy. They are doing very well for himself,” concluded Motale.
Up next for Chiefs is a Telkom Knockout semi-finals battle with Maritzburg United in Nelspruit this Saturday at 15:00.
