Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia have been fined Kshs 760,000 by CAF following fans' behavior during their home match against Motema Pembe.
Gor Mahia were playing their first leg of CAF Confederation Cup playoffs against Motema at MISC Kasarani and home supporter threw missiles during the clash. Match officials reported the incident which happened in the 70th minute as K'Ogalo settled for a 1-1 draw before being eliminated from the competition after losing 2-1 in the return leg.
"The officials of the match have indicated in their reports there was some throwing of missiles by the spectators of Gor Mahia club at the 70th minute. CAF disciplinary board decided to impose upon Gor Mahia a financial sanction of $7.500 (Seven thousand five hundred dollars) for the throwing of missiles. Payment must be made within 60 days," a statement from CAF read.
This decision can be contested before CAF Appeal Board. The party intending to appeal shall announce his intention in writing with three (3) days of notification of the decision. If the last day of time limit coincides with a public holiday in the country of residence, the time limit will expire the next day which is not a public holiday.
Reasons for appeal shall be given in writing within a further time limit of seven (7) days, commencing upon expiry date of the first time limit of three (3) days. The deposit mentioned in articleS8 of the CDC must be paid to CAF's account. The appeal is invalid without the relevant deposit within the relevant time limit.
