Marcus Rashford backs Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Mauricio Pochettinho sacking

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer approaching his one year anniversary at Manchester United since his appointment, Marcus Rashford has backed the Norwegian manager.

Pochettinho was linked with United before the club settled on Solskjaer as their permanent manager, however, the Red Devils have struggled since.

The Argentine manager has once again been linked with United as his possible destination after being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Rashford backed Solskjaer, "Ole is a great guy, a great manager and he has the club’s best interests at heart so there’s not a better person for the job in my opinion."

The England international also fired a warning to his United teammates that a top-four finish will not be enough, "If we got top four but didn’t get a trophy I wouldn’t come out of the season happy.

"If we managed to get some trophies and get ourselves into the top four then it’s been a successful season. For me, it’s about putting markers down for the future because we know this period is not going to change overnight.

"We know we’re not going to get where we want to be overnight in terms of what he (Solskjaer) wants out of the players.

"We have to bide our time and be patient and as long as we keep working hard and we believe in what we’re doing, which I think the team do 100 percent, I think we’ll be fine."
