Kakamega Homeboyz has revealed the amount collected in their week 18 Kenyan Premier League clash Gor Mahia at the Bukhungu Stadium.
According to Homeboyz chairman Mr. Cleophas Shimanyula, the team collected a total of Ksh 365000 after deductions an amount that he feels would be bigger after the completion of the Bukhungu Stadium.
“We collected a total of Ksh 365000 but I think the amount would have been more if we had a bigger ground which should happen after the completion of the stadium. People here like football and I know they can fill the ground on a good day,” Shimanyula said.
In the game, regular tickets went for Ksh 100 with the VIP section retailing for Ksh 300 according to Shimanyula.
On the game, Shimanyula said they are still in the title contention and the win gives them the much-needed boost in achieving their season’s dreams.
“The best we have managed against them (Gor Mahia) was a draw and the win gives the boys the belief that they can go all the way. Gor is one of the best teams in the league and the results show that we can match anyone this season,” Shimanyula opined.
On Gor’s remaining games, Shimanyula added: “The uncertainty is something that I don’t like. I’m urging KPL to ensure that they (Gor Mahia) play their games in hand so that everyone can be at per.”
Homeboyz are placed second with 36 points, four points above Gor Mahia who have played three games less.
