๐Ÿ—ฃ OPINION: Why Christian Eriksen moving to Inter Milan ticks so many boxes

The talented Danish playmaker has been on the fringes of the Spurs first team since José  Mourinho took over, and it seems that a move to Serie A giants Inter Milan is imminent.

A deal for Eriksen could be struck as soon early as today as Spurs look to cash in on a player who is unsettled at the club. But why would Eriksen to Inter make so much sense? Here are five reasons, off the top my head.

💵 Spurs would cash in on a depreciating asset

By selling Eriksen for £17m now, Spurs would avoid the risk of losing one of their most important players for nothing next season. It's a simple bottom-line decision and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy usually makes calls that balance the books.

🙃 No way José

Eriksen has only started three out of ten Premier League matches since Mourinho took the reins, although those three starts did come in their last three matches. Perhaps José was desperate to inject some of Eriksen's obvious quality to try and improve the club's results in the short term. However, when a player falls out of favour with José, there's usually no way back.

💫 Eriksen would find a new challenge appealing

Between 2010 and 2019, only David Silva supplied more Premier League assists than Eriksen. He arrived in the English top-flight just short of seven years ago from Ajax, and he's consistently been one of the most creative forces in the division. He has been the jewel in the crown of a promising project but, at the end of the day, has no winner's medals to show for it. A Champions League final loss to Liverpool last season will go down as a massive achievement for Eriksen, Spurs and then-manager Mauricio Pochettino, but also a case of close but no cigar.

Eriksen may feel that he can challenge for the Scudetto with Inter and be a key figure in their Champions League push next season, assuming they qualify although that shouldn't be a problem.

🎩 Inter needs a new creative midfielder

The Nerazzurri has drawn three of their last five matches and fallen two points behind Juventus at the summit of Serie A. In Antonio Conte's 3-5-2 system, much of the creative burden falls to Marcelo Brozović, usually the deepest-lying midfielder in that system. With 22-year-old creative midfield talent Nicolò Barella out injured long-term, Inter is lacking a bit of spark in the centre of the park. That's where Eriksen comes in.

The Dane's work off the ball is also hugely underrated, and that's a quality that Conte demands of his players.

🎯 Lautaro and Lukaku to thrive on Eriksen's silver service

Antonio Conte's strikeforce at Inter is developing into one of the most effective in Europe. Romelu Lukaku is already an experienced campaigner who's proven his goal-scoring prowess over the years. At 26 years old, the best is yet to come from him. 22-year-old Argentinian star Lautaro Martínez is turning heads around the world with his energetic displays and knack for scoring goals in big games.

Christian Eriksen will surely relish the opportunity of being the chief creator for these two talented forwards.

Eriksen to Inter is a no-brainer on paper, but I also just think he'd look pretty cool in black and blue.
