Arsenal manager Arteta plans to raid Manchester City for John Stones

Manchester City defender Mikel Arteta is planning to raid his former club Manchester City for the services of defender John Stones.

Reports from Man City Extra via the Sun reports that Arteta is looking to haul the Arsenal defense as he bids to get the Gunners playing from the back.

With Konstantinos Mavropanos having been shipped to Germany on a loan deal and Mustafi on his way out of the club, Arteta’s first priority in the January transfer is a defender with City said to be ready to let Stone leave albeit on a loan deal.

Stones has endured a nightmare spell with injuries this season but Guardiola believes he still has what it takes to become one of the best defenders in Europe with more game time which could be accorded to his player by his former assistant.

Guardiola has entrusted midfielder Fernandinho with the defensive duties and it is said that the Brazillian is above Stones in the pecking order and with defender Aymeric Laporte close to returning from injury, the Spaniard is ready to let Stones leave.

25-year-old Stones is said to be keen for a move as more roles on the City bench could harm his chances of representing England at Euro 2020.

Stones has been limited to just 10 Premier League appearances this season, though he did complete 90 minutes in the competition on Sunday against Aston Villa for the first time since November.
