Eswatini national team have officially appointed Dominic Kunene as their new head coach on a one-year contract, Ghanasoccernet reported.
Kunene has been brought in to replace Serbian tactician Kostadin Papic whose contract expired in December 2019 and the team decided not to renew his contract.
Papic struggled to achieve the results that were expected from him after the team suffered back-to-back defeats in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as well as getting eliminated in the preliminary round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Djibouti.
The Eswatini Football Association confirmed Kunene's appointment in a statement: "The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has appointed Dominic Kunene as the head coach of the Senior Men's National Team (Sihlangu).
He is currently at the helm of Young Buffaloes head coach and he was the U20 Men's national team head coach."
Kunene's first task is to win against the Democratic Republic of Congo in March in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
