Arsenal will battle Everton in the race to secure the signature of Real Madrid wantaway midfielder James Rodriguez.
Real Madrid has valued the Colombian at £34 million which will make any permanent purchase by English sides a little difficult. The Gunners are reportedly interested in a loan move with an option to purchase later.
Spanish newspaper AS reports that Arteta is looking to sign a quality midfielder in this January window.
However, Arsenal faces competition from Everton whose coach Carlo Ancelotti wants to reunite with the Colombian. Ancelotti worked with Rodriguez both at Madrid and later at Bayern Munich.
Rodriguez still has 18 months left on his contract at Madrid but has found playing time scarce under Zinedine Zidane. He's down the pecking order when Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro and Isco are available.
