Immediate former Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde has backed Real Madrid to lift the LaLiga title this season ahead of the Catalan side.
Valverde was shown the door at Barcelona following unconvincing results in recent months, with Quique Setién taking over.
Real Madrid have since opened a three-point gap at the top of the table, and Valverde feels they are a strong side this season.
"Madrid are strong and very focused on LaLiga," he said when asked who are the favorites for the title during the Bilbao International Football Summit.
The former Athletic Bilbao man then opened up on his time at the helm of Barcelona for two years.
"I was incredibly fortunate to coach Barcelona. I know what it means to coach there and I am delighted to have been there. When you sign the contract, you know that you depend on results and that the coach is always responsible."
"I don't feel I was unfairly treated. I understand why you would ask that, but I try to turn over the page and not go back over things. I want to look forward."
The 56-year-old is yet to decide on his next move, but hinted at going out to find a 'new experience'.
