After starting two Premier League matches in a row in place of experienced striker Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah has now been forced to insist that there is nothing going on in the dressing room between the two forwards.
Lacazette scored in Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Newcastle and even after breaking his goal drought, Mikel Arteta still benched him and he was an unused substitute against Everton in the Gunners’ last match.
20-year-old Nketiah is, however, a man in form and the selection makes sense.
"Obviously he [Lacazette] is a mature lad and a great player," Nketiah is quoted as saying by Goal. "He always tries to encourage me.
"He has been a young player in my position so he knows what it is like. There are no hostilities, he's just always looking to help and improve and it shows the maturity he has.
"He has had a great career so all I can do is take the advice he gives me and try and implement it in my game and do what I do best."
After the 3-2 win against Everton, the Gunners now lie ninth in the Premier League table, seven points off fourth-placed Chelsea.
