Italian side Sampdoria has confirmed striker Manolo Gabbiadini has tested positive for the coronavirus.
Gabbiadini becomes the second Serie A player to test positive for coronavirus after Juventus ace Daniel Rugani was the first to contract the pandemic. Juventus announced the news on Wednesday night with the reports coming after the Serie A had been suspended until 3 April.
"UC Sampdoria announce that player Manolo Gabbiadini has tested positive for Coronavirus-COVID-19," a statement from Sampdoria read.
"He has a slight fever but is doing well. The club is activating all the procedures of isolation laid out in the rules."
The former Southampton striker has also released his own statement.
"I also tested positive for Coronavirus. I want to thank everyone who wrote to me, many messages have already arrived. I still want to tell you that I’m fine, so don’t worry. Follow all the rules, stay home and everything will work out."
The former Southampton man, who is an Italian international, has also played for Napoli and Bologna.
