Alexis Sanchez set for Manchester United return

Alexis Sanchez will return to Manchester United in the summer with Serie A side Inter Milan not ready to acquire his services on a permanent basis.

The 31-year-old has started just two Serie A matches during an injury-hit campaign and according to reports from Italy, Antonio Conte is not interested in extending the player’s stay at the club.

Sanchez has two years remaining on his United contract and is believed the player is unwilling to lower his lucrative £500,000-a-week contract with no clubs ready to match that; something that might see him run out his contract at United.

Sanchez hoped that he could reignite his career in Italy but a serious ankle injury back in October jeopardized his progress and when he was back, Conte already had his first-team planned out something that has reduced the player to a team role.

According to the Telegraph, the Chilean has featured primarily in cup competitions since returning from his three-month lay-off and his days at the San Siro are coming to an end.

Sportsmail further reports that Inter Chief Executive Guiseppe Marotta is unwilling to pay the £17.5million (€20m) it would cost to snap the player on a permanent deal as they look for cheaper and younger options available in the market.

At the end of his loan deal in Italy, Inter would have splashed out £4.3m (€5m) as part of the agreement to bring him in from United. Given that he has played just 596 minutes, he has cost Inter a huge £7314 per minute played.
